Man, 21 , arraigned for alleged possession of dummy pistol in Osun

A 21-year-old man, Omotayo Adesola, was on Thursday arraigned in an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged possession of a dummy pistol and other weapons.

Oyetunji is facing a count charge of possession of illegal substances suspected to be for house breaking.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Ajayi Sunday, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 26, at about 14:30 p.m., at Olonkoro area, Osogbo.

Sunday said Adesola was arrested with a dummy pistol, wired miniature explosive, saw blade, catapult and nine inches screw driver at his possession.

He said the items found with him were suspected to be used for house breaking which he could not give reasonable account of how he came about them.

He said the offence contravened section 417(c) of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol. 11 laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Counsel to the accused , Mrs Base Adeyinka, prayed the Magistrate to grant her Client bail in the most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Sodamade Fatimoh, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in like sum.

Fatimoh said the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction with evidence of tax payments and two passports sized photographs attached with an affidavit of means.

She adjourned the case to Feb. 1, 2017 for hearing.
