The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has certified the Gombe International Airport worthy to airlift intending Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
The Regional Manager of the agency for the zone, Ango Shehu, stated this while adding that the airport has met minimum requirements for the conduct of this year’s Hajj operations.
Shehu gave this indication on Monday while briefing Governor Muhammadu Yahaya on the outcome of their follow-up assessment visit to the airport.
He said there was a significant improvement in facilities at the airport when compared to the gaps identified in their first visit.
Shehu told the Governor that the Authority will communicate in writing to the Gombe State Government on further improvements needed on the Airport for smooth and effective operations.

Responding, the governor said his administration was committed towards improving facilities at the Gombe International Airport which has seen no intervention since its establishment.
The Governor was represented by the Secretary to the Gombe State Government, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi.
According to the governor, the NCAA team has done well over the follow-up inspection visit, assuring that his administration will do everything necessary to ensure the smooth conduct of this year’s Hajj operations.
TheNewsGuru reports that the NCAA has raised concerns over the state of infrastructure in some airports in the country and the need for them to be up to standard to be allowed in this year’s Hajj operations.
