Nigeria’s new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has unveiled an ambitious foreign policy agenda aimed at tackling global challenges that resonate within Nigeria, West Africa, and beyond, citing the unfolding political crises in Niger Republic.

Addressing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff upon assuming his new role, Tuggar disclosed the forthcoming “Vision 4D Diplomacy”, which will pivot on four key pillars – Development, Democracy, Demography, and Diaspora – all geared towards devising contemporary solutions for intricate modern problems.

“In due time, Nigeria will be unveiling a new vision of Nigerian foreign policy “Vision 4D Diplomacy” centred on Development, Democracy, Demography, and Diaspora to find modern solutions to address modern complex problems.

“Each and everyone has a key role to play, these are turbulent times from the unfolding political crisis in Niger Republic to the regional insecurity and economic uncertainty we have a lot of work to do,” he stated.

The Permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Adamu Ibrahim Lamuwa, expressed the staff’s eagerness to collaborate closely with the new minister to fulfill the mandate of this transformative foreign policy vision.
