r Monday Onyeme, Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue (DBIR), says owners of vehicles with defaced or old number plates would no longer renew their vehicle particulars.
Onyeme said in a statement signed by Mr Commander Utoware, Director of Enforcement and Compliance, while conveying the resolution of the Joint Tax Board (JTB) and DBIR.
He said the measure became necessary to check fraud, enhance revenue collection and security, and as well ensure order and control in the nation’s vehicle administration system.
Onyeme said JTB had ordered a discontinuation of renewal of vehicle, particulars on the old plate and defaced numbers.
“Applicants, whose vehicles were registered under the old vehicle licencing format, are now to apply for registration or revalidation in the new number plate system at the point of renewal,” he said.
Recall that enforcement of compliance with the National Road Traffic Regulation of 2012 on the use of new vehicle number plates has been stalled by a gale of protests by Nigerians.
