United States President Joe Biden has again picked another Nigerian immigrant for a top diplomatic position in the country.
TheNewsGuru.com, TNG reports that Akunna Cook was on Tuesday sworn in as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.
Akunna, is the daughter of Chief Anthony and Mrs. Clara Enweruzor, from Ntigha in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government of Abia State.
Widely recognized as a seasoned diplomat, lawyer, expert in public policy and political strategy, Akunna also has an impressive record in economic empowerment.
She began her career in the State Department, where she worked for about a decade as economic and commercial officer in the US Foreign Service.
She worked in places like China, South Africa, Iraq and others.
Akunna received her law degree from Yale University Law School, Masters in Public Policy from Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Business Administration Howard University.
Akunna was the founding executive director of the Black Economic Alliance.

TNG reports that Akunna joins Enoh Ebong, Funmi Badejo, Osaremen Okolo and Adewale ‘Wally’ Adeyemo who all became an important part of the Biden’s administration in less than two months in office.
