The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party Peter Obi and his running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed have arrived in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital for the Presidential Rally and Townhall meetings.
They arrived in Dutse early Monday afternoon along with their spouses Margaret Obi and Mrs Aisha Baba-Ahmed, who are also in the state for their Women Townhall engagement.
It would be recalled that the Labour Party on Sunday accused the Jigawa State Government of denying them facilities to hold their campaign rally in the state.
According to the Spokesperson of the party in the state Yunusa Salisu Tanko, the Labour Party had requested to use the state complex and Manpower Development Institute MDI for the party’s townhall meeting but the state government denied them the facilities.
Tanko pointed out that the denial was contrary to the electoral acts, adding that the campaign would now take place in Filin Samba in the state capital.
Obi who is running to become the first Nigerian president since the country returned to democracy in 1999, has pledged that his government will secure and unite Nigerians by managing the nation’s diversity to everyone’s advantage without any feeling of marginalisation.
He has promised that his administration would invest in infrastructure, education and affordable healthcare.
