Two weeks after members of the House of Representatives issued President Muhamnadu Buhari a query over incessant killing by insurgents, the House is yet to receive a response from him.
TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) recalls that after the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents garrooted 48 farmers in Borno, the House had summoned Buhari who graciously accepted to appear before the House.
But as at on Tuesday, no formal communication has been received from the number one citizen who rather chose to go in a one-week vacation to Daura his home town in Katsina.
A probe by TNG into why Mr President decided to ignore the House revealed that the House leadership is still very hopeful that he would honour the invitation to defend himself before members.
Some lawmakers who spoke to TNG under the condition of anonymity described Mr President’s snub of the House as a bitter pill that they may have to swallow.
A lawmker from the North Central geo-political zone of Nigeria was however hopeful that”Buhari may just surprise us by showing up to explain why Nigerians are being slaughtered on a daily basis.
“But some of us are still dumbfounded why he has not deemed it necessary to even write us to explain why he has failed to honor us.
Another Lawmaker from the South East geo-political zone said”when is he going to come when we are vacating on Thursday, is he planning to come in the new year,” he wondered.
The House image maker, Hon Benjamin Kalu is still very hopeful that Mr President will honour the summon because it was not designed to ridicule him.
Feelers from the presidency clearly connotes that the House may have to wait until May 2023 before a formal letter is sent on why Mr President failed to show up.
The House may end legislative business on Thursday and proceed on Christmas break to resume next year.
