We see, feel the hardship in the land – Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki says members of the national assembly are attuned to the current hardship in the country and are working towards reducing the burden of a recessed economy.

Speaking during a joint session of the Upper (Senate) and Lower (House of Reps) of the national assembly, to receive the presentation of the 2017 budget by President Buhari, Saraki said that the 8th assembly hears, sees, feels the hardship of the citizenry whilst working to fix it.

“Our constituents tell us that there is hardship in the land. We can see it, we can feel it. We will fix it.”

“In response to the recession, the national assembly is working on 11 priority bills to end the economic recession. To achieve economic growth, we must make it easier to do business in Nigeria.”

Saraki emphasised the need to produce, consume and promote made in Nigerian brands.

“We must make efforts to market Nigeria as an attractive brand for investment.

“We must speak the right language to attract investment and ensure investor confidence.

The senate president promised to collaborate with executive to revamp the Nigerian economy from its current recessed state.

“We commit to working with the executive to getting the Nigerian economy back on track

“The Nigerian Senate is focused on fixing Nigeria’s economy by opening up new sectors through legislative interventions, this will create jobs.”
