Recall that if you needed to take selfie-perfect shots before this innovation, you would be required to take a ton of selfies and practice until you find your most natural, photogenic smile. In fact, you might need to purse your lips in different ways, open your mouth halfway, turn up the corners of your lips slightly, smile wide with all your teeth or try a close-lipped smile.

Interestingly, Snapchat, which has a millions more active daily users has come to the rescue, unveiling “Pixy” the miniature drone, which the management actually dubbed, “Your friendly flying camera.”

Priced at $230, the device can take-off from your hand and follow any of four preset flight paths, including floating, orbiting, and following wherever you lead.

During the launch recently, the American social media company narrated that the invention honestly began with Snapchat itself. The company said they had to first create Snapchat as a new way to use your camera for self-expression and communication.

According to Snapchat: “Today, we’re bringing it to new heights with a flying camera called, Pixy.”

Described as “a pocket-sized, free-flying sidekick,” the firm said Pixy can find its way back to your hand, landing gently at the end of the flight just like the regular drone would do.

Though Pixy was designed to be a companion to Snapchat, it could be used with “any other platform,” only note that videos from flights are wirelessly transferred and saved into Snapchat Memories, the social media company cleared.

“From there, you can use Snapchat’s editing tools, ‘Lenses, and Sounds’ to customize what you capture,” Snapchat said.

They went on: “The knob on top of the tiny ‘quadcopter’ lets you select what type of photo or video you want.”

Also note that the mini-drone relies on computer vision and object recognition technology to identify people’s faces and bodies, which allows it to follow or “orbit” or land back in the palm of your hand.

“With a few taps, you can automatically crop into portrait and apply quick Smart Edits, like Hyperspeed, Bounce, Orbit 3D and Jump Cut,” Snapchat enthused.

Currently Pixy is only available for purchase on Pixy.com in the U.S. and France.
