US President Joe Biden expressed immense pride after Vice President Kamala Harris secured the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination.
Harris officially clinched the nomination on Friday, setting up a November election showdown with Republican Donald Trump.
Since Biden ended his re-election campaign two weeks ago, Harris has broken fundraising records, drawn large crowds, and overtaken Trump in the polls.
“I couldn’t be prouder,” Biden shared on X following her nomination.
Harris, 59, has made history as the first Black and South Asian woman to receive a major party’s nomination. She will be formally nominated at a convention in Chicago later this month.
