Woman allegedly set ablaze by her 'jealous' co-wife dies in Owerri

A woman identified as Uche succumbed to burn injuries after she was allegedly set on fire by her co-wife in Imo State has reportedly died.

The deceased’s sister, Nwanneka Ifurunna, who disclosed this in a Facebook post on Saturday, January 7, 2023, said the incident happened in Owerri.

“This was my beloved Sis Uchee pics, she was set ablaze by her co-wife over nothing other than jealousy. Dear sis just like u said in ur last word “see you in God’s kingdom,He will call and my sis will answer, May resurrection hope promised by our loving father Jehovah continue to console all of us.

“The third pic is the wicked woman who set my sis on fire, pls she has been declared wanted by the Police, anybody with useful information on her whereabouts should contact any nearby police station,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of 12 persons, with five others sustaining injuries, in a road accident that occurred in Sokoto.

FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mr Kabiru Yusuf-Nadabo confirmed the accident on Monday.

Yusuf-Nadabo said that the accident occurred Sunday evening at Madake village in the Shagari Local Government Area of the state.

He said that the incident involved a Mitsubishi van carrying 17 persons and loaded with bags of maize, guinea corn other items.

The FRSC sector commander said that the vehicle fell into a ditch and that 12 persons died on the spot, while five others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

He said that the affected persons had been taken to the Specialist Hospital, Shagari.

Yusuf-Nadabo cautioned drivers against speeding, dangerous driving and other unwholesome practices that might endanger peoples’ lives and property.
