Cross River State governor, Professor Ben Ayade has joined other Southern aspirants to declare his presidential ambition.
Ayade declared his intentions to run for presidency of the country in 2023 general elections after due consultation with President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
Ayade who met with President Buhari behind closed doors said he got a commitment from the president to go ahead and run if he has the qualities, but he must consult widely with leaders of the party from the south-south region.
Ayade noted that his prime responsibility would be to tackle power, security and economic challenges facing the country if he finally gets the nod.
The Cross River governor however, noted that he wouldn’t hesitate to support any candidate of Buhari’s choice in order to consolidate on the modest achievements of the ruling APC.
When asked if he would support the ambition of ex-president Goodluck Jonathan if he later declares his intention for 2023 presidency, Ayade said he would definitely support him if he is the party’s choice.
