Another building collapses in Lagos

Another building has collapsed in the Bariga area of Lagos state TheNewsGuru.com can exclusively report.

The building located on Adeleye street in the Lady Lack area of the Bariga axis of Lagos state caved in the late hours of Sunday, August 21, 2022.

The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who disclosed this, said the building went down a few minutes ago.

Oke-Osanyintolu, made this known in LASEMA’s situation report at about 10:47 pm, Sunday night.

He further explained that the LASEMA team is presently on top of the situation.

LASEMA in its assessment   discovered that the structure caved in as a result of being distressed and due to lack of maintenance.

Meanwhile, the building has been cordoned and sealed off to prevent and the occupants of the adjoining buildings asked to stay away from the environs, while emergency operations continue at the site.

LASEMA”s reports show that there are casualties as a result of the collapsed building

“The Agency activated its response to the above incident and upon arrival at the incident scene, discovered that the tank scaffolding of a two-story building collapsed on a bungalow beside it and affected two rooms.

“Unfortunately two children died from the impact. Three adult males sustained injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

“The Agency’s response team alongside Lagos State Fire and LASBCA are responders at the incident scene. Rescue operation ongoing,” he said.

Meanwhile, the building has been cordoned and sealed off to prevent and the occupants of the adjoining buildings asked to stay away from the environs, while emergency operations continue at the site.
