• PDP condemns invasion of Akwa Ibom House of Assembly
The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly led by the New Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Sir) Nse Ntuen reconvened today.
Recall TheNewsGuru, TNG had earlier reported that members of the house who were at the plenary condemned the impunity unleashed by the former speaker, Rt. Hon. Onofiok Luke last week Monday.
The house moved a motion to suspend the following lawmakers: Onofiok Luke, Udo Kerian Akpan, Felicia Bassey, Nse Essien, Lawrence Udofia, Usoro Akpanusoh, Ime Okon, Friday Iwok, Asuquo Archibong, Mark Esset, Emmanuel Ekpenyong, Aniekan Uko till further notice.
The house also dissolved all standing committees constituted illegally by the former speaker. Committees to be reconstituted headed by the Honourable Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nse Ntuen and adjourned till Tuesday 4th, December, 2018.
Meanwhile,the People’s Democratic Party has condemned the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
The PDP reacted on Twitter: “Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly under siege again. The former members of the State House of Assembly are back to the Assembly complex this morning. with heavily armed @PoliceNg & thugs. We call on all Nigerians to rise in condemnation of this heinous crime
“Siege on Akwa Ibom State Assembly: The whole idea behind the recent onslaught by the Senator Godswill Akpabio’s sponsored sacked members of the state assembly is to cause mayhem, generate tension with a view to make the state ungovernable. This is criminal and unacceptable,” the tweet added.
