Godwin Obaseki has been re-elected as the governor of Edo State for another term of four years.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election polled a total of 307,955 votes to defeat his main challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who got 223,619 votes.
Obaseki won in 13 LGAs including Oredo, where he hails from while Ize-Iyamu won in five. Co-incidentally both men battled it out in 2016 with Obaseki, the then flagbearer of the APC emerging victorious after defeating Ize-Iyamu who was the PDP candidate with over 200,000 votes.
