The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 49 fresh COVID-19 deaths in the country as infections shot up drastically.
Figures released by the centre on Saturday showed that the nation reported 964 new cases of COVID-19, over 100 percent higher than the 444 cases posted the previous day.
Lagos posted a huge 456 fresh cases, while Ondo reported 180 cases and Edo, 66 cases.
The NCDC said the rise in Lagos’ cases was as a result of the backlog from 3rd (237), and 4th (219) September, 2021.
Total confirmed COVID-19 cases now stand at 195,052, with 182,463 survivors discharged.

The Centre also attributed the rise in deaths to the backlog of 18 deaths reported for Lagos State for 30th August, 2021.
However, new cases were reported in 19 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
