..say we hear stories of Constituency projects being dangled before PDP leaders
By Emman Ovuakporie
There’s a fresh call by some members of the House of Representatives that if nothing is done now to re-invigorate robust opposition in the House, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP will die by January 2020.
The Lawmakers who spoke under the condition of anonymity gave this verdict without mincing words.
One of such lawmakers from the South East gave a vivid account of how Constituency projects is being dangled before leaders of the party to alter its NWC report on the issue of minority leadership.
He said”we have heard how plans are underway to grease the palms of some of our leaders with Constituency project contracts.
“Hmmm if they bite the bait that will be the end of robust opposition in the House and the ultimate death of PDP in Nigeria.
“Once the opposition is finally silenced then we can forget it and start looking for another party by January because everything that thee ruling party brings either bad or ugly will sail through with ease.
“But what some of the leaders don’t know is that Constituency projects are supervised by the ministries and not cash distribution.
Another lawmaker from the South South zone also spoke in the same vein saying:
“Well we are patiently waiting for the verdict of the NWC and once we see it whether it’s positive or negative, the little we could do we shall perfect it and watch the party collapse.
“It’s taking too long for the party to take a position on this issue as our patience is fast running out.
“We have sacrificed all and there’s nothing left again to sacrifice as we have denied ourselves of so many things yet nothing is being done to move the party forward.
“Is it not too glaring that the voice of opposition is now voiceless in the House.
“Don’t you see and hear how opposition praise the majority leadership before making any move which is always in favour of the ruling party,” he wondered.
A lawmaker from North Central also displayed his anger declaring that”as far as I am concerned this is the worst budget defense I have ever experienced in all my 12years as a representative of my people.
“We the opposition members are now voiceless because our present crop of leaders dine and wine with the ruling party.
“But one thing is certain, if by January this trend continues, then PDP has succeeded in digging its own grave for good.
“We are watching and waiting for our party to make the right move by ensuring that the needful is done.
“If the party fails to right the wrong we’ll continue the watch as it buries itself”, he added.
A lawmaker from the South West and a fourth timer simply said” no matter how the present situation continues, there’s an adage in my place that says no matter the quantity of water and soap you use to wash the anus there must still be a little excreta there unwashed.
“If our leaders don’t do the right thing now, PDP will kiss the dust at most by January.
Recall that the House failed to recognise the authentic list of minority principal officers sent by the Uche Secondus led PDP but the Senate endorsed his Senate list that’s performing and doing the right thing.
In the House as it is the voice of opposition is propelled from the wrong set of leaders.
