Two officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who simply gave their names as Buba and Temi have enlightened the public on the procedures to follow before registering or transferring their Permanent Voters Card.
The duo who spoke on a political program on Nigeria info FM in Lagos on Wednesday and monitored by TheNewsGuru.com advised the public on the steps to be taken to procure their PVCs before the July 31st deadline, hinting that there will be no extension.
On the loss of a PVC, Buba stated that anyone who loses his/her PVC should go on the INEC portal to register and state missing or damaged PVC.
On change of name, Temi directed persons with a name change to go to INEC offices with a Newspaper publication or court affidavit to that effect.
On the deadline for voter registration, Buba stated that INEC needs time to put itself in order and prepare adequately for next year’s general election.
For those who still possess a temporary voters card and find it difficult to access it on the portal or trace it, Tomi advised such persons to register again for a new one.
Asked about the expiration of PVCs by callers on the program, Temi said the card should be kept safe as it doesn’t have an expiry date.
For those who cannot access the portal from their phone, Temi advised users to use google chrome to access it.
He advised the public to keep their PVCs safe, saying that a faded one cannot be accessed by Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) technology presently used by the electoral body for elections.
He appealed to Nigerians needing to fix issues relating to PVC to visit the INEC website; CVR.inecnigeria.org
Buba asked Nigerians living in Lagos to communicate with the body using the various social media handles; Interlagos on Twitter and Instagram and ineclagoshq on Facebook, saying that the feedback mechanism is very instantaneous.
