The Journalism and Development Seminars initiative (JADE) has commiserated with the family of Agbede in Edo state over the passing of one of their daughters, Hajia Raheemat Omoro Momodu.
Until her death, Hajia Raheemat was a founding member of Jade Seminar initiative and secretary of its board of trustees. She was actively involved in the running and activities of Human Security and civil society organizations in the department of gender and social affairs at the ECOWAS commission.
She was a passionate believer of the Nigerian project with deep commitment to issues of women and children.
She served as an assistant political editor at the defunct concord Newspapers, she was at various times the chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalist, Lagos state chapter.
She served as the project officer/gender equity programme officer, gender and coordinator Youth Development programme at the united Nations for population Activities UNFPA.
She also worked as programme manager, good governance, human rights and gender focal person, EU delegations to Nigeria.
Hajia Raheemat is survived by a son, Zafir and sister Lafifat..
She will be laid to rest on June 15th at Gwarimpa in Abuja according to Islamic rites.
