Reno Omokri, a former social media aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, among other Nigerians have condemned the All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu, for donating N50m to victims of the Katsina market fire and ignoring affected traders in the South-West.
Leading the criticism against Tinubu’s gesture to Katisna traders on Twitter, Omokri wrote, “Bola Tinubu, who didn’t visit or donate one kobo to victims of the Sasa market crisis, or to victims of the Ijesha market fire in Lagos, has today donated N50m to victims of the Katsina market fire. Obviously, Tinubu’s charity does not begin at home.”

Following Omokri’s tweet, there have been barrage of invectives showered on the former Lagos governor for lavishing N50m on Katsina, but kept a deafening silence when same tragedy befall the aforesaid markets in South-West.
Tinubu didn’t donate a kobo when Abule Addo was burnt down, he didn’t say pim when Sasha crisis happened, what about Akesan? Nothing. But he quickly rushed to Kastina to drop ₦50m. He is working so hard to satisfy the North. This man doesn’t care about his people at all. Sad.

Tinubu was chancellor during Lautech intense strike and a crowdfund was called, Makinde put 5m, Tinubu put nothing.
Abule Addo people have been displaced for a year, nothing from Tinubu.
But the slave can put 50m to ‘assist’ Katsina traders.

At least, six people died while various shops and houses were burnt during a crisis in Shasha market in Ibadan.
Also in January, a fire that occurred at Ijesha Market in Lagos led to the destruction of several properties. A total of 62 traders and 28 households were affected in the incident while 14 shops were burnt and 48 others affected.
Yesterday, Tinubu paid a sympathy visit to traders and other victims of the market in the company of Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State.
While commiserating with them, the former Lagos governor said market activities should resume despite the level of damages and destruction recorded as the life he believes must continue.
He told reporters on the sidelines, that the purpose of his visit is to sympathise and commiserate with the victims, the governor and good people of the state particularly the market men and women devastated by the fire.
Tinubu emphasised the need to promote unity and collaboration among Nigerians, saying “that Nigerians must be their brother’s keepers.”
