Assistant Inspector -General of police, Zone 2 command, Adeyinka Adeleke has said the Inspector General of Police, Usman is at the moment working out modalities for the increment in the allowances and salaries of police officers in line with the approval of the Federal Government.
TNG reports that junior police officers recently threatened to down tools and go on a two-week warning strike citing poor payment structure.

Adeleke whilst giving lectures to a cross section of policemen in Ogun state dismmissed the strike, saying modalities for a new package underway.
He appealed for calm and pleaded with the rank and file to be law-abiding and steer clear of actions that could be described as mutiny urging them to disciplined and maintain the integrity of the force, saying their are procedures and guidelines to channeling and addressing their grievances,
The lecture reads in part, “The IG, Usman Baba, has put measures in place to ensure that policemen are comfortable, and he is seeing to the review of death benefits as well as welfare issues, including salary increment, pension, kits etc.
