The Lagos state police command has arrested one Emmanuel Sunday for traffic robbery in Ketu, Kosofe Local Government Area.
Emmanuel Sunday said to be an ex-convict has been terrorizing motorists and commuters at the Ketu-Ikosi Kosofe axis.
The Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed his arrest via a statement signed and released by him on Thursday in Lagos.
Sunday, notorious for dispossessing motorists of their belongings, was apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
He was caught when RRS officials working undercover spotted him while trying to dispossess a motorist of his phone at Ojota Underbridge.
Hundeyin said that the culprit confessed to being imprisoned for similar offence in Lagos.
He was nabbed by the Alapere Police Division earlier in the year for stealing, and was sentenced to a three-month jail term in Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
Sunday’s arrest followed the deployment of undercover officers to comb areas with incidences of traffic robbery, Hundeyin added.
Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi has directed increased patrol to fish out other traffic robbers in Lagos.
