Police operatives in Kwara have arrested One Ibrahim Hassan for allegedly killing his Soldier father in the state.
The murdered retired Army corporal, Sabi Ibrahim, was reportedly murdered by his own biological son in an uncompleted building.
It was gathered that the culprit administered the late 90-year-old father with paracetamol injection mixed with other substances.
Consequently, the late Army corporal became weak, fragile, and dizzy after being injected.
The suspect then ferried the father with a borrowed motorcycle to an uncompleted building where he allegedly strangulated the old man to death.
Okasanmi told newsmen while parading the suspect in Ilorin on Thursday at the state police command that “the circumstances of his disappearance elicited suspicion hence the resolve of the Command to get to the root of it.
He said “investigation into the matter led to the arrest of one Ibrahim Hassan ‘M’, a biological son of the missing old man.
“During the investigation, the suspect confessed to have administered paracetamol injection mixed with other substances on his father, who became weak and dizzy immediately after the injection, this he did after coming from the bank where he took his father to renew and collect his ATM card.”
The spokesman revealed that the suspect thereafter, “took the father on a motorcycle he borrowed to convey his father to an isolated uncompleted building and strangulated his father to death, dug a shallow grave where he buried his father after dispossessing him of the Wema Bank ATM card they went to the bank to collect.”
Okasanmi said the suspect escaped to Kaduna State and started withdrawing from his late father’s account, he withdrew a total sum of N59,000.
He further revealed that the purpose of killing his father was to disposses his father of his ATM card since he knew the pin code.
Hassan also sold his the motorcycle he borrowed and ran away to Kaduna where he was later apprehended.
He revealed that the ATM card and the borrowed motorcycle have been recovered from the culprit.
Okasanmi noted that Hassan will be charged to court in due course.
