Hon. Umar Bago a contestant and second runner-up in the just concluded speakershilp contest at the House of Representatives of the 9th National Assembly has sent words of appreciation to members of the House, the media and indeed Nigerians for their support during the contest for the exalted office.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday his campaign Spokesman Hon. Victor Ogene in Abuja.
It reads: “we wish to convey our profound gratitude to the 360 members of the House of Representatives for their kind support during the race for the Speakership election.
Our special gratitude also goes to the media, mainstream and online for a professional coverage of our two-month long Campaigns.
We can’t also forget the Civil Society Organizations, public affairs analysts, the Nigerian people and indeed, all those who assisted in many ways than one to propagate our messages and viewpoints of equity, justice and fairness.
The election has come and gone and we give all glory to God.
For us, it was a friendly contest to deepen our democracy and propagate the gospel of unity.
Members on June 11, 2019 eventually made their choice and as loyal party men, we will have to respect and live with that.
We therefore formally congratulate the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila and the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase on their elections.
While wishing them well, we hereby pledge the support of our principal, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umaru Bago to work with them and give all the support they would need from him to evolve and pursue populist and people-oriented policies and programmes for the good of the House and Nigerians at large”.
The campaign spokesman also said that Bago shall be glad to lend his vision to the entire House leadership to also anable their great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC and the government of President Muhammadu Buhari realize its Next Level agenda for the country.
