The Hub social club of Isolo on Monday organized a community charity event to celebrate, support the indigents and residents of Isolo by staging a novelty match, free medical check-up and giving out food items.
The charity event was held at Ansarudeen College of Education, karimu, Isolo in Lagos, where the social club converged the community to participate in the ceremony.
Vice-President of the club, Shuaibu Mohammed described The Hub social club as an association where elites in Isolo came together, as to see what they can give back to their immediate community.
Shuaibu said, “We do this every year, we give out gifts, by so doing the community will feel the sense of belonging that they are also been remembered in everything we do”.
He said after the event, “It is a forum that we tried to organize football matches between ourselves and our men in Ajegunle to attract the community, and when they came, we had the chance of sharing what we have to them”.
“We also have a medical team that comes to examine people’s health status and recommend things people can do to be healthy”.
Firstly, we have to consider our health which is very key so, it gives an opportunity for our health to be remembered.
“Here with us, we have the Police DPO, who was the referee of the novelty match, so we have brought out noble people to the common person in Isolo, that is what our club stands for and that is what we do every year”.
In relations to the Independence celebration, Shuaibu expressed his views saying, “this is a good one, it coincided with our independence, it depend on the person you ask, they will tell you the way Nigeria is going, everybody has their views on Nigeria and that we are 58, we are not doing badly because the love is there.
Adeniyi Federic, the chairman organizing committee, said “this is a corporate social responsibility of the Hub social club of Isolo, we decided to give back to the society by having a free medical test for the indigents and also to share food items to the people of Isolo.
“And most especially, we decided to use Karimu street as the venue because it is a well populated area here in Isolo and a way to reach out to more people”.
This is our maiden edition of the CSR, and we believe that years to come we will do more of this, and also we having a novelty match between our members and people we invited from Ajegunle to be part of what we are doing today.
“We project that in later years this will be expanded, we planning to build an health center within Isolo so that people can have access to good healthcare services”.
“We should not give government everything to do, we should be able to give too to the society”
Chairman of the event, the Osolo of Isolo, HRH Oba Kabiru Kolawole Agbabiaka who was represented by High Chief Wasiu Saka, the Olorogun of Isolo expressed his joy with the way the charity event was held.
“I’m very happy, the Osolo himself is happy too, for this event to hold, the directive came from the king”
“And if they continue to do this, it will really help and develop the community, those that participated in the match really tried, the professionals playing abroad can’t do better than this”.
“If the youth are been encouraged like this and supporting them with other things, this way they are playing, Nigerian youths will go higher”
“We really need this kind of event in Isolo all the time because the King himself likes sport, he loves watching football matches, there is none of this kind that the king will reject”.
“The King will always welcome and support anybody that comes up with this kind of project”
