The Yoruba Reform has described the aspiration of a member of the House of Representatives representing Wase Federal Constituency, Mr Ahmed Idris Wase, as Speaker of the House in the 10th Assembly as equity and fairness.

Wase is the current Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

The group, in a statement by his President, Olusola Adeniyi, on Sunday in Akure said majority of Nigerians would want to see a speaker who had a perfect understanding of the dynamics and understanding of the House.

Adeniyi added that such a personality should have abilities to ensure a harmonious working relationship between the legislature and the executive arms of government in order to give the much needed support to the new administration of Sen. Bola Tinubu.

“Wase has all the qualities of a good leader, including leading the house with 360 members of the Reps.

“He has the legislative adroitness, proficiency and experience of a good lawmaker and is loaded with ideas and professionalism to handle situations that may present themselves before him as speaker of the hallowed chamber,” he stated.

Adeniyi explained that Wase was highly cerebral, sophisticated and urbane in the modern day legislative responsibilities.

“He has been able to demonstrate to his constituents that good governance and effective representation are possible, hence his programmes have had positive impacts on them.

“For needed stability, fairness and justice in the house, taking into consideration his efforts at ensuring a crisis free house, Wase deserves the house Speakership,” he said.

Adeniyi stated that the group had utmost faith in Wase’s leadership in the house, saying “Wase is most eminently qualified to be the next Speaker.

“He has presided over the house a countless times in the absence of the Speaker and no one can doubt his professionalism, competence, expertise and the sublime way he has handled the business of the house,” he said.

The group president expressed optimism that the House would do the needful by throwing its weight behind Wase’s aspiration.

“Wase has many positives. He’s not just the Deputy Speaker in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, but also the Deputy Speaker of the ECOWAS parliament.

“And one of the finest legislators that have built experience and a wall of strong political friendship with other political players in the six geo-political zones of our country,” he said.
