Delta State PDP Governorship Candidate for the 2023 Governorship election and Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has stated that the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government had destroyed Nigeria, saying that only PDP could reset Nigeria, if voted into power.

Also, Chief Ighoyota Amori, PDP Senatorial Candidate, Delta Central District; Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq, PDP House of Representatives Candidate, Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, and Olorogun Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, PDP Delta State House of Assembly Candidate, Uvwie Constituency, have promised to attract massive development to Uvwie, if voted for in 2023.

The candidates, who made the assertions during the Delta State PDP ward-to-ward campaigns to Uvwie Local Government Area wards 4, 3, 2, 1, and 7, said they were in the Wards to solicit for votes and on a need assessment of the area.

Speaking during the campaign visit to the five Wards, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori, who is also the National Deputy Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, said the poverty rate in the Country between 2019 to 2022 had risen to 23 percent which showed the failure of the APC Government at the Federal level in the Country.

He explained that “the promotion of poverty by the APC-led Federal Government is the cause of insecurity. The unemployment rate had risen, almost all industries are dead. Even Federal roads that were constantly maintained by FERMA during the PDP-led Federal Government between 1999 to 2015 has stopped. FERMA is no longer working. The APC Muslim/Muslim ticket is not doable, such a ticket cannot fly in a diverse society like Nigeria.”

He pointed out that the only party that had the solution to the problems currently bedeviling the Country is the PDP.

“The only party that can reset and rebuild this nation is the PDP,” he added.

He appealed to the people of Uvwie to vote for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as President and Vice-President respectively, as they would turn around the economy that had been destroyed by the APC-led administration.

He noted that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who picked Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as his Vice would develop the Country with his wealth of experience as former Vice-President and business mogul in the private sector.

He urged the Uvwie people to vote Chief Ighoyota Amori for Senate, Delta Central District, saying he had worked tirelessly through the DC-23 to ensure that the Governorship seat came to Delta Central District; vote Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq., for House of Representatives,, Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency because she is eloquent, vibrant, and experienced; Hon. Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata for Delta State House of Assembly, Uvwie Constituency to enable him use his wealth of experience to develop Uvwie.

The Delta State PDP Governorship Candidate also appealed to the people to vote for him and his Deputy as their M.O.R.E. Agenda would bring meaningful development, opportunities for all, realistic reforms, and enhanced peace and security.

According to him, “Okowa has done a lot in the area of infrastructure, health, human capital development, peace and security, and prudent utilisation of State resources, among others. I will listen more, achieve more and do more to consolidate on the gains of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s achievements.”

On his part, the PDP Delta Central Senatorial Candidate, Chief Ighoyota Amori, commended the people of Uvwie for the massive turnout as it showed their readiness to vote for PDP candidates in 2023.

He noted that Uvwie played a vital role in the formation of PDP in the state and appealed to the people to vote for him and all other
PDP candidates for more development.

He noted that Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie and Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituencies had both represented Urhobo at different times in the Senate, “so I urge all of you to vote for me for the Senate, come 2023.”

Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq, PDP House of Representatives Candidate, Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency, said Nigeria was a better Country when PDP was in power.

“Prices of foodstuffs and other products were commensurate; fuel price was less than =N=100; a Dollar was less than =N=200; the economy was booming and rated one of the best in Africa.

“But today, APC has destroyed Nigeria in less than eight years as the Federal Government with failed economic policies. Fuel is now about =N=250 per litre; a bag of local rice is now =N=55,000; a dollar is now over =N=800 in the black market.

“Insecurity is currently bedeviling the country as we can no longer sleep with our eyes closed, nor travel by the roads. People are being killed with impunity,” she stated.

She appealed to the groups on the need to vote for her for House of Representatives, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as President and Vice-President respectively, and Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and Sir. Monday Onyeme as Governor and Deputy Governor respectively, Chief Ighoyota Amori for Senate, Delta Central District, and Olorogun Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata for Delta State House of Assembly, Uvwie Constituency.

She noted that Oborevwori would not only consolidate on the gains of the Okowa Administration, but would deliver on the M.O.R.E Agenda for a better Delta State.

According to her, “as the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori did not only usher in peaceful legislation, but brought harmonious working relationship between the legislature and the executive.

“This is the first time God has given us the opportunity to have a Governor from Okpe/Sapele/Uvwie Federal Constituency. So, we will do all we can to ensure Oborevwori comes out victorious in the forthcoming Governorship election in the State.”

She commended the giant strides recorded by the Okowa Administration, saying that Okowa had done a lot for Uvwie people to include roads, the Technical College, classrooms blocks, healthcare delivery, and major infrastructures.

Hon. Solomon Okporua Ighrakpata, PDP House of Assembly Candidate, Uvwie Constituency in his speech at the various Wards appealed to the people to vote for him, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for President and Vice-President respectively Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori and Sir. Monday Onyeme for Governor and Deputy Governor respectively, Chief Ighoyota Amori for Senate Delta Central District, and Rt. Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro Esq.

Ighrakpata noted that the PDP-led administration had done a lot for Uvwie Local Government Area which included roads, schools, and health centres, among others.

He added that the people of Uvwie had every reason to vote for Rt. Hon. Oborevwori as he was not only an indigene of Uvwie, but had attracted a lot of development projects to Uvwie.

He described Oborevwori as a humble, articulate, and peace-loving man that would be a good Governor for Delta State.
