The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Mr Festus Keyamo has rubbished moves by Northern Christian leaders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) to find a path for themselves ahead of the 2023 general election.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Keyamo as saying he is not aware of an official stratification of APC Northern Christians or Muslims in the party, stressing that Northern Christians within the APC family will vote according to their individual conscience in the 2023 elections.
“I am not aware that the Northern Christians within the APC family met anywhere to appoint spokespersons on their behalf. They will vote according to their individual conscience. Nobody has the authority to speak on behalf of every adherent of a particular faith within a party
“Also & with the greatest respect, I am not aware that we have an official stratification of APC Northern Christians or Muslims in our great party. They are all APC members, simpliciter, and they registered as such into the party, not on the platforms of their different faiths,” Keyamo tweeted.

Recall that some aggrieved APC members in the Northern part of the country, including the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engineer Babachir Lawal and former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, under the auspices of APC Northern Christians have kicked against the party’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket.
They called on Christians in the North to speak with one voice against the Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima ticket, declaring that the choice of the ruling party will promote injustice and inequality, and run counterproductive to the collective vision of a united Nigeria.
