Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 elections, Atiku Abubakar has said he is contesting the presidential election because of the youths of Nigeria.
TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Atiku disclosed this when he recently met with some content creators, entrepreneurs and social media influencers within the YouthsInPoliticsNg coalition.
The PDP presidential candidate made the disclosure while lamenting the level of attention given by the government to public education in the country.
“It is our administration that made a law that said every Nigerian child must go to school to at least secondary school. Yet, the level of public education in Nigeria today has collapsed.
“It pains me a lot. There are some things, no matter how wealthy you are in the private sector, you will not be able to influence.
“You are the youths. It’s your tomorrow. If you come out to protect the process, good for you. Me, I’ve lived my life. What I am doing now is that I am struggling for your life. What I am doing now, I am doing it for you people.
“I am ready to guide you, to protect you, defend your interest as long as I am strong, healthy and alive,” Atiku said.
I will make it my absolute priority to work with more of Nigeria’s youths – Atiku
Sharing the Friday interactive session on his social media pages, Atiku further disclosed that he will make it his absolute priority to continue listening, engaging and working with more of Nigeria’s youths.
He wrote: “As a man who came from nothing and persevered in learning and achieving against all odds, these young powerhouses remind me of myself and our nation’s exceptional resilience to succeed.
“We are now at a time where ideation, innovation, creativity and technology continues to offer a world of opportunities for the younger generation of Nigerians.
“Many of whom have utilised these spaces to export some of the country’s greatest success stories and reposition our image globally through the arts, culture and brilliant entertainment.
“Now imagine if we, as one Nigeria, worked to provide the enabling environment to catapult our younger generations’ talents further. How much further would we fly?
“I will make it my absolute priority to continue listening, engaging and working with more of Nigeria’s superpower, our youth, to witness their optimum potential.
“You are the pride of our future, and as a father of our nation, I am committed to your success. I look forward to merging wisdom and youth excellence to bring tangible solutions and protection to us all. As one, we will get it done”.
