2023: Tinubu in political realignment move, visits Jonathan, seeks blessing [Photos]

Ahead 2023 presidential race, there seems to be political realignment as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, earlier on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to former president Goodluck Jonathan.

Vice Presidential candidate of the APC Kashim Shettima, Governors of Ogun State Dapo Abiodun, Kwara AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Zamfara State Bello Matawalle, Jigawa Abubakar Badaru and Plateau Simon Lalong who is also the Director General of the campaign council accompanied Tinubu to Jonathan’s residence.

The 2023 presidential campaign is starting in few weeks time.

It was gathered that the APC candidate and Jonathan were in a closed-door meeting where they spoke on issues majorly around the presidential election next year.

Tinubu said his visit to Jonathan was for consultation in his capacity a former President in the country and an elder statesman.

According to him, he sees leading Nigeria as going beyond partisan politics and seeks the support of all leading figures in Nigeria to brainstorm and the best way to get the country on a right track.

Recall that Tinubu had also visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo in his Abeokuta residence earlier in the month as part of his ongoing consultations.

Tinubu had also visited Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike in London where both men met behind closed doors.

Just before the presidential primaries of the APC, Tinubu had also engaged in consultations with traditional rulers in the South West and other leaders across the country.

A source close to the former Lagos State Governor, told disclosed that the APC candidate will continue to meet with leaders across the country before campaigns officially start next month.

Tinubu was instrumental to Jonathan’s loss of 2015 reelection bid.

Tinubu attributed the defeat of President Goodluck Jonathan in the last presidential election to a commonsense revolution anchored on a rebellion against the excesses of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
