43-year-old businessman secures ADP guber ticket in Imo

A 43-year-old businessman,, Mr Nnamdi Ezelioha, has secured the ticket of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the Nov. 11 governorship election in Imo.

Ezelioha, who was the sole contender in the primary election held on Sunday in Owerri, became the fourth governorship candidate after the candidates of the APC, PDP and LP.

The Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Mr Steven Okonkwo, said all the 306 delegates for the primary voted in favour of Ezelioha.

The Deputy National Welfare Secretary of ADP, Mr James Ogboelo, expressed confidence that the party would occupy the state Government House after the governorship election.

He explained that Ezelioha emerged the sole candidate after being successfully screened by the national secretariat of the party.

“I thank God that we have a candidate who everyone can attest to as the youngest candidate in the election. He has the capacity to run the state.

“We all know the history of Imo state after our late icon, Sam Mbakwe. This time around, God has sent an anointed candidate to rescue the state,” he stated.

Earlier, the state chairman of the party, Mr Uzor Mmezi, described the governorship candidate of the party as a “reliable and youthful hand that will redefine governance in Imo state”.

“We have been deluded, disappointed and cheated.

“We pray that the ADP in Imo state will usher in a governor that will make the change and bring in the most deserved leadership after November 2023,” he said.

In his acceptance speech, Ezelioha, who hails from Ideato South Local Government Area of the state, commended the delegates and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him.

He said, if given the governorship mandate in November, he would ensure a people-oriented governance and provide technology-driven solutions to the economic, health, education and industrial challenges facing the state.
