National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Iyiorcha Ayu, has hinted that national leader of the APC and former governor of Lagos state, Mr. Bola Tinubu would soon join the Party.
Ayu disclosed this in a Unity dinner, he said he’s very close to Tinubu that he cannot deny him.
He told the PDP faithfuls that seeing him and Tinubu in a picture together does not mean they are conspiring together against the Party in Lagos.
“Myself and Tinubu has come a long way. I remember now vividly in 1992 how we conspired together at his small office in Victoria Island, Lagos for me to emerge as the President of Senate. There was no ‘Bourdillion’ then. Senator Liyel Imoke was also with me and Tinubu In the ‘plot’.
He was the youngest among the senators in 1992. He was barely 30 years when we were inaugurated and now he’s in his 60s.”
He, however, clarified that his relationship with Tinubu will not in anyway affect his role as the national chairman of the PDP to win Lagos.
Ayu admonished the PDP members to be united and work together in order to win the state.
Going down the memory lane, Ayu hinted that the process of formation of the PDP started in Lagos.
He said; “ starting from G9 to G18 and G34, everything started here in Lagos.
He also commended Jandor for his efforts at reaching out to the people in Mushin and other areas.
“ I learnt that Jandor has been on this for a while now, mobilizing people in Mushin.
He was not attacking them. He was going to them to woo them to his side.
“It’s a hardwork to win Lagos. Go out to Mushin and other areas; you are too comfortable in Ikoyi.
“We shall win in Lagos in 2023. Please open that door to the Villa so that we can stop the slaughter of Nigerian in 2023.”
He urged PDP to unite with the resolve to win the governorship in Lagos and other elective offices in 2023.
“The entire country is a slaughter slab under the APC . Anybody who says he wants to continue with President Muhammadu Buhari’s program want to slaughter all of us.”
Ayu was however not happy about the attitude of the PDP leaders in Ekiti and their inability to unite and present a common front.
He said it’s incumbent on the leaders to unite and present a common front, otherwise the Party will loose the forthcoming governorship election.
“If we loose Ekiti, it’s because the leaders are not united. I spent two weeks in resolving them; they even signed an agreement, but immediately they leave, they reneged on the agreement they signed.” He said.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the PDP in the south west and Oyo state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde described the unity rally and unity dinner as a sign that the PDP in Lagos has agreed to work together irrespective of their differences.
Makinde maintains that the fact that different tendencies in the party in Lagos were at the dinner gladdens his heart.
To former governor of Ondo state, Dr. Segun Mimiko, the time has come to put an end to the APC lackluster performance at the centre.
He, however, commended Jandor and urged him to continue with the mobilization, adding that the PDP is rejuvenated to win this time around.
Mimiko, who mocked the Buhari’s administration launched of rice pyramid in Abuja said;
“We live in a country that we eat our rice in pyramid.
“If we have so much rice in the country, the price would have reduced drastically.”
Dignitaries at the dinner include former deputy national chairman of the PDP, Chief Olabode George, former deputy governor of Lagos state, Senator Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, former minister of integration and cooperation in Africa, Dr. Bimbo Ogunkelu, Alhaja Maina and former chairman of Lagos state PDP chapter, Captain Tunji Shelle amongst others.
