…as both meet behind close-door
The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, is currently in a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Atiku was the Vice-President to Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007.
Both have being entangled in controversies with the former president insisting not to support Atiku’s presidential bid at different times.
He arrived the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, Abeokuta, at 1.09pm.
On Atiku’s entourage are the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus; his campaign director, Otunba Gbenga Daniel; Senator Ben Murray-Bruce; and a former Cross River State governor, Liyel Imoke, among others.
The meeting according to close sources is not unconnected with Atiku’s presidential ambition in 2019.
Recall that leaders from the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, had earlier visited Obasanjo on Tuesday, allegedly to prepare a soft landing for Atiku in Abeokuta, considering the frosty relationship between him and his host.
