Mr Jude Ogbimi has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Isoko North House of Assembly by-election.
Ogbimi, a former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Parties was returned unopposed having no opposition in the primaries held on Thursday.
He was returned by the Returning Officer, Dr Tony Aziegbeni as the validly nominated candidate for the House of Assembly contest having polled a total of 139 delegate votes out of 147 accredited delegates with 5 invalid and 3 no votes.
“Mr Jude Ogbimi having scored the highest votes in this primary election is hereby declared winner as candidate for the Isoko North Constituency by-election on scheduled for April 10, 2021,” Aziegbeni said.
Recall that the Isoko North seat in the Delta State House of Assembly had been vacant following the death of Tim Owhefere.
Consequently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) fixed a date to conduct a bye election to replace the late majority leader of the Delta State House of Assembly.
According to a statement by INEC, the bye election to replace the member representing Isoko North State Constituency of Delta State in the House of Assembly will hold on Saturday 10th April 2021.
Also, INEC directed political parties to conduct their primaries between 11 and 20th March 2021 while the last day for submission of list of nominated candidates is 6pm on the 24th March 2021.
