President-elect, Tinubu clocks 71, cancels birthday celebrations

President-elect, Bola Tinubu, has cancelled  all forms of celebration including the annual colloquium to mark his birthday this in 2023.

The Lagos born politician has instead asked for special prayers and a thanksgiving service.

Tinubu will clock 71 on Wednesday and the usual mapped out celebrations will not hold.

The former Lagos Governor usually marks his birthday celebrations with a colloquium and a week of series of programme.

However, according to one of his media aides, Tunde Rahman stated  via a statement that prayers would be held in Lagos and other parts of the country.

The special prayers will be held at the central mosques in each of the five divisions in the state.

“Also to receive prayers among others are President Muhammadu Buhari and First Lady Aisha Buhari, President-elect Tinubu, and his wife, senator Oluremi Tinubu, Vice-President-elect, senator Kashim Shettima, and Hajia Nana Shettima, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, other state governors as well as members of national and state houses of assembly,” the statement read in part.
