Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike has explained that he will reveal his preferred presidential candidate in January 2023.
The Rivers-born politician made this known the during the commissioning of the Rumukurishi flyover in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
He added that he will also campaign for his adopted candidate across the country.
According to him, he would campaign for his people who they will be voting for.
He said, “From January next year, I’ll campaign to my people who they’ll vote for.
“So, all of you who’ve been in suspense, who’ve been saying all kinds of things, abusing me, wait. January is here.”
He added, “I’ll move from state to state [for campaigns], and why they should vote for the person, nothing will happen.”
Recall that after the PDP presidential primary back in May, where Wike came second, the governor has been at loggerheads with the party’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar over the chairmanship of Iyorchia Ayu.
TheNewsGuru reports that Wike and four other aggrieved PDP governors have formed a group known as G5 and they have registered their displeasure at the emergence of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the PDP’s presidential candidate and the continued stay of Iyiorcha Ayu as the National chairman of the party.
The cited intra-party agreement on region balancing as one of the reasons they want Ayu out of his position.
