Read: Mathew 18:10-14
Meditation verse:
“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you unless indeed you are disqualified?” (2 Corinthians 13:5).
I listened to a preacher tell the story of how his seven-year-old son went missing during a family vacation in Disney World. The lad had suddenly strayed away from the rest of the family and gotten lost in the crowd. They searched for him for several minutes, panicking over what might have happened to him. Eventually they found him in a corner excitedly watching the display of lights. His father hugged him and said, “son I have been searching for you, you were lost”. The little boy replied, “but dad, I was not lost”. He had been having a nice time without realising that he had been lost to his family.
As I listened to the preacher that Sunday morning, it dawned on me that it is possible to be lost without realising it. The one whom may not know that they are lost. The lure of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life is always before us. It is so easy to gradually stray from our faith until we are completely locked into whatever pleasures they offer. We may not even realise that we have gotten lost.
Towards what have you found yourself straying? What sin are you enjoying in the moment that has caused you to stray from the loving arms of your Father? Adultery, infidelity, drugs, sexual immorality, financial misappropriation, or drunkenness? 2 Corinthians 13;5 says, “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you unless indeed you are disqualified?”
Why not do a self-examination today.
