​England coach to check on mental health of Chelsea stars

England boss Gareth Southgate will speak to Chelsea star Mason Mount about his mental state before deciding if he is ready to play against Germany.

Mount and his Chelsea teammate Ben Chilwell are self-isolating after close contact with Scotland star Billy Gilmour, who tested positive for COVID-19 before the final round of group games at Euro 2020.

Mount and Chilwell can train with the team on the morning of the Germany game and can be selected by Southgate for the match.

Chilwell is not first choice at left back, but Southgate would start Mount under normal circumstances.

“It’s been quite complicated. In the main they’ve had to work entirely on their own,” said Southgate, per the Daily Mail.

“There’s not only the training but the psychological part of that as well, of course.

“Yes, we will leave it as late as possible.”
