No fewer than 120 players have booked places in the final round of the 7th Daniel Ogechi Akujobi Memorial (DOAM) Foundation Golf Tournament holding from Feb. 4 in Lagos.

The competition’s Coordinator, Pat Bassey, said in statement on Friday that they qualified for the event at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos after the qualifiers on Jan. 14.
According to the statement, made available in Lagos, the players will now be joined by guest players from all over the country.

It said that the interest shown in the qualifiers was overwhelming, adding that illustrated the increasing popularity of the tournament and trust in what it represents — “Changing Lives through Golf’’.
“We are pleased with the caliber of golfers and individuals that have shown interest in reaching the under-privileged through DOAM Foundation.

“In spite of not being able to accommodate all the golfers who desire to enjoy the tournament’s unique experience, we appreciate the strong interest by an overwhelming number of golfers.
“This is clearly a reflection of their confidence in the accountability and integrity of this project,’’ the statement said.

It noted that more than 66,000 lives have been impacted from donations received through the foundation.
The DOAMF Charity Golf funds have been channeled to support social causes in specific areas of education, health and medical intervention within needy families and communities.
The DOAM Charity Golf Tournament is an annual one-day fund raising event that has been staged since 2011 at the Golf Section of Ikoyi Club 1938.

This year’s final will be concluded with a Prize Giving/Award Cocktail party later in the evening of the same day.
DOAM foundation is a charitable, humanitarian and non-governmental organisation, established in 2007 in memory of Master Daniel Ogechi Akujobi.
