American boxer, Floyd Mayweather, has responded to UFC president Dana White’s proposal that he and Conor McGregor would receive $25million apiece for a boxing match by claiming his net worth far outweighs his rival.
Mayweather said this week that he would only consider facing MMA star McGregor for a base purse of $100m with his opponent taking home a career-high $15m plus a minor cut of the pay-per-view receipts.
Having dismissed White’s offer out of hand, Mayweather has taken to social media to illustrate precisely why an additional $25million would be of little appeal to him, given his astonishing wealth.
Mayweather took to Instagram on Thursday to show off just how much his net worth dwarfs McGregor’s, with a picture of the two alongside two very different figures.
According to the five-division world champion, his collective purse from a glittering career is 260 times greater than ‘The Notorious’ UFC superstar – $650million to $2.5m.
Mayweather doesn’t hold back in his accompanying words next to the picture, writing: ‘Before you ask for $25 million, be worth more than $25 million.
‘You have the ‘2’ and the ‘5’ right but you meant to say $2.5 million not $25 million.’
