Liverpool slumped to second on the log for the first time since November no thanks to a 1-1 draw with Manchester City at Anfield.

City defender, John Stones latched on to a loose ball from a cornerkick to score the Visitor’s first and only goal of the encounter but MacAllister restored parity from the penalty spot in the 50th minute f the thrilling encounter.

City were the better side before half-time, taking the lead through John Stones from a cheekily-worked corner kick routine.

But Liverpool were the dominant side after the interval, equalising thanks to Alexis Mac Allister’s penalty after Nathan Ake and Ederson got themselves in a tangle.

Liverpool forward Liuz Daiz had the best opportunity of the night but fluffed it when Salah sent him a through pass.

Jeremy Doku also had an opportunity in the closes stages of the second hald when he outran Liverpool defender, Virgil Van Dijk but his effort hit the crossbar to rebound to goalie Kelleher.

There was a shout for a penalty for Liverpool in the dying minutes of additional time, when Doku hit MacAllister with his stud but VAR waved it off.

With 10 games to go it is obviously far too close to call with Arsenal ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and just a point in front of the champions, City.

With course and distance City may be third but probably remain the favourites as they search for an unprecedented fourth title in a row. But no-one has rattled them quite how Liverpool rattled them here in a raucous second-half.
