The Reds have had a difficult start to the season with just two league wins to their name before now and are down in 11th place but the win against City has boosted their confidence.

However, City played well, and thought they took the lead when Phil Foden scored, but VAR penalized a foul by Erling Haaland in the build-up, much to the fury of Pep Guardiola.

Minutes later, Liverpool scored the winner when Mo Salah outsmarted  Joao Cancelo in a long battle, raced towards the goal post and struck the ball past on rushing goalie Ederson to give Liverpool the lead.
