Katsina Utd FC on Thursday became the winner of the National Football League Super Four Competition in Gombe.
Katsina Utd defeated ABS FC of Ilorin 4-0 via penalty shoot-out to emerged the champions of the Super Four National League competition.
After 90 minutes of regulation time, each side had scored a goal, necessitating the penalty shoot-out.
Remo Stars FC of Ijebu clinched the third position by defeating hosts Gombe Utd FC 3-1 also via penalty shootout, following a one-all draw after regulation time.
After the match, Technical Adviser of Katsina Utd FC, Mr. Nkiyu Bala, commended all the teams for performing well.
He also said the officiating was okay and appreciated the turnout of spectators.
Also speaking, Technical Adviser of Gombe Utd, Manu Garba, said he needed to make some changes, especially in the midfield and attack, to prepare his team for the Premier League
Presenting the trophies, Chief of Staff, Government House, Gombe, Malam Ahmed Yayari ,commended all the teams.
He assured Gombe Utd of that in spite of the poor outing displayed during the Super Four competition, government would support the club during the premiere league.
Fans of the host team, Gombe Utd, were disappointed by the poor performance of the club in spite of having home advantage.
One of the fans, Dale Sa’ad, said he was disappointed by the poor performance of the team, calling on the state government to stop spending its resources on the club if there was no improvement.
Another fan, Adamu Musa, voiced the same feeling, lamenting the team had spoilt his week.
