Dejan Kulusevski was the visitors’ hero as this helter-skelter contest neared added time, Brennan Johnson skated along the left and popped the ball into City’s area and the No 21 – via what looked a shoulder – beat Ederson to make it 3-3.

Against the run of play, Heung-min Son put Spurs 1-0 up but equalized for the opponent after turning the bll into his own net.

Phil Foden made it 2-1 and Giovani Lo Celso equalized with a curler before Jack Grealish thought he’d won it with his tap-in.

Dejan Kulusevski’s late equaliser means Tottenham avoid becoming the first team in Premier League history to score first in four straight matches but go on to lose all four.

It also means that Manchester City have now failed to win three straight Premier League matches despite taking the lead in each for the first time since 2009.

Manchester City’s failure to see out the win means they finish today in third place, a point behind Liverpool and three behind league leaders Arsenal.

Tottenham, meanwhile, move back ahead of Newcastle into fifth place
