Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has placed Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans high on his transfer list.
The Mirror says Arteta, who signed a new three-year deal at the Emirates last week, wants to strengthen his midfield for what he hopes will be a first Champions League campaign for his club since 2017-18. And with Mohamed Elneny is out of contract this summer at Arsenal and doubts also surrounding Granit Xhaka’s future, Tielemans is firmly on his radar.
The Belgian will enter the final year of his contract with Leicester in July and the fact he is no closer to agreeing a new deal means there is a growing feeling within the East Midlands club that they will be best served cashing in on his services this summer.
Leicester are bracing themselves for offers, with Manchester United also linked. But if Arsenal can offer immediate Champions League football by finishing in the top four this season then they will be in the box seat to land the player who scored the winning goal in last season’s FA Cup final.
