Liverpool star Mohamed Salah sent a message to his Egypt teammates as he self-isolates.
Egypt beat Togo 1-0 thanks to Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh’s second-half header, which proved to be enough for the Pharaohs to claim their first win in Group G of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.
Egypt boss El-Badry was pleased with the result after a difficult preparation period, in which Salah tested positive for coronavirus, which was confirmed by Egypt FA on Friday.
El-Badry said: “It’s an important win that comes after a very difficult period in terms of preparation before the game.
“We were better in the first half, had a good shape and created a number of chances but the players were physically tired in the second half.
“Salah sent us a message before the game saying he is confident we will beat Togo, and thankfully we did today. I dedicate this win to all Egyptian fans and Salah.”
