Ekiti state born, Miss Flourish Ajibola, Nigeria’s National Spelling Bee Champion, has arrived in Kampala Uganda for the 2023 world spelling bee competition.

Ajibola and her tutor, Mr Gbenga Ogunlade, both from Ekiti state, left Nigeria over the weekend, following the fulfilment of Governor Oyebanji’s pledge to foot the bill for the trip to the international competition.

Recall that two months ago, Governor Oyebanji had pledged to foot the bills for Ajibola’s participation at the world championship in Uganda when he received the student of the Saint Lawrence Metropolitan School, Ado Ekiti, in his office, accompanied by her school’s proprietor, Laurence Oluwafemi.

Governor Oyebanji, on that significant day, not only received Flourish’s trophies but reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transforming educational values in the state. In a decisive move, he approved the full sponsorship of Flourish’s trip and her teacher to the upcoming competition in Kampala, emphasizing that his commitment to education and human capital development is beyond rhetorics.
