The English fans who already landed in Qatar are fuming over the ban of alcoholic content at the Mundial, thereby branding the tournament as a disappointment.
They added that handing the tournament to Qatar has ‘ruined’ it after a shock announcement on Friday revealed alcoholic content is banned from all stadia.
The Qatari laws frown at the consumption of Alcohol in public space in the country.
The ban came as a shock to most fans after FIFA had previously reassured them that despite the country’s strict alcohol laws, they would be able to purchase it while enjoying the games. But those fortunate enough to be sat in corporate boxes, where tickets cost more than $22,450 each, will still be able to enjoy an array of alcoholic drinks.
The initial plan was for fans to be able to buy alcoholic beer within the ticketed perimeter surrounding each of the eight stadiums three hours before and one hour after each game.
The Qatari authority has announced stringent rules to fans coming for the mundial and warned that ignorance is not an excuse.
