Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has hit out at Premier League managers demanding a five substitution change.

Shearer has argued that more substitutions favours bigger clubs with more talented squads.

The Premier League’s all-time top scorer believes managers with better talent available in reserve have an advantage later on in games.

“This is what our country is, he knew that before coming in,” Shearer said, referring to Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

“The teams vote that in and they didn’t want that.

“I think it can be an unfair advantage for the [bigger] clubs.”
