Betfair football fan survey shows that former France international and Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry has been voted the greatest ever Premier League player since the start of the English Premier League in 1992.
Recall that the English league was rebranded and renamed the Premier League at the beginning of the 1992/93 football season.
The survey which was a plan to mark the 30th anniversary of the rebranded league was conducted for over a thousand fans to vote for who has been the greatest of all time since 1992 and Henry came out tops
Henry who scored 275 league goals for Arsenal earned 15 percent of the vote ahead of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Newcastle icon Alan Shearer.
Henry who has been in Nigeria for promotional purposes a few times is affectionately called ‘Igwe’ by his adoring Nigerian fans.
The fourth place was nicked by Manchester United’s eccentric star Eric Cantona while current Aston Villa – and Liverpool legend – Steven Gerrard was fifth in the survey.
Shearer remains the Premier League’s highest goal scorer with 360 goals.
